A ketogenic diet doesn’t have to be expensive. With a little thought and effort, you can eat an effective yet cheap keto diet that will give you real, lasting results. On cheap keto, you can eat delicious, healthy foods that will improve your health without emptying your wallet.
Most of us can’t afford $40/ounce Virgin Salmon that was Wild-Caught on a Full Moon, or Panda-Massaged, mountain-grass-finished beef! If the best you can do right now is Hot Dogs and Mustard, then that’s just fine. It’s better than many other options and will give you lasting results.

Great video! It's a relief to see keto demystified and made accessible for everyone, regardless of their budget. Keep showing us how to eat healthy without breaking the bank!
Great video! It's so important to remember that keto doesn't have to break the bank to be effective and healthy. Thanks for showing how to do keto on a budget and still get great results!
Thankyou Dr Berry😊
Yeah, 2025 here, and I remember when a pound of eggs, which is about 10 of them, was cheaper than beef!
5:11 this is definitely the distant economic past 😂
Im very poor, so broke right and I also want to lose weight. I need to know if I can survive on keto today in 2025 with eggs being 4×'s higher then 7 years ago.
I like to get a pork shoulder. Pretty cheap for the amount of meat and it lasts me a week
Wow this is the best info I've ever heard so many need to hear this thank you sir
so kind thankyou Dr Berry ❤
This was great advice thank you .
Thanks doctor Berry. A very timely video for me.
I saw this and started to laugh about the prices of everything back then. You're all Carnivory now, hahaha
eggs!!! cheap??? no trump has f——- that. thanks so much for your videos. was trying without success to reverse pre diabetes. now have a fighting chance
I already have to object. Do noteat anything but organic chicken,non-gmo chicken. It cannot be laced with herbicides and pesticides and the chickens be given a GMO corn product to eat please be aware of that.
Same with ground beef
Ground beef is not ground beef.
The cows could be standing around in the muck in a cage in offense not out in the fields eating organic non gmo grass.
Eggs come from chickens.
I only eat pasture raised eggs that are organic with a soy free corn free meal. Otherwise you're eating herbicides, pesticides and GMO products. I can't express this enough.
Please doctor, do some more research and inform your audience more clearly on how if you're going to eat a meat product that they should be eating what they need to be eating in order to feed you properly.
Thanks for this! I work with disabled, elderly and those with health issues on low budgets and felt bad that they couldn't afford better food. I've often referred you and a couple of other online doctors to hopefully help them with their health issues to hopefully try and solve things naturally
Thank you, Doctor!
Love your charming southern accent. Thank you for the tips 😊
This is all new to me folks. I have at least $100 in high carb food sitting in my house. I eat mostly veggies and greens at dinner, but I finish it off with eating a bag or 2 of chips. I'm 63, uninsured and I need to address some health issues myself because I can't afford a doctor. I'm on a fixed income so the thought of throwing away so much food is depressing. I know the high carbs are making me unhealthy, but when you're poor, you do everything you can to save money. Should I pitch the high carb food ( mostly tortilla chips, unpopped popcorn kernels and generic Cheerio type cereal from Aldi with no sugar) and start trying Keto, or could I gradually eat a little bit of the high carb food a little at a time, until it's gone? Keto is so strange to me. I haven't eaten meat or eggs for years. All that fat just sounds so unhealthy. But seeing the results of what eating high carb foods has done to me is pretty motivating to make changes. I would appreciate your help and advice please.
Thank you for this. The cost of living is literally killing me and I've been wondering if I can afford doing keto. I need to do keto because of my health and weight.
Thank you so much for these tips.
Whether keto or not, buy bag of frozen chicken legs and make delicious soup! Secondly, if you can find it, bake leg quarter and add side dishes.
Sadly, eggs are getting so expensive, I'm starting to fast out of necessity until suppertime. I told my husband I'm about ready to hide a chicken in our apartment lol (not really, but it's crazy how expensive eggs have gotten.)
Thank you!
How about instead of saying “cheap” lets use “frugal” “on a budget” so we don’t sound like we are 3
I call it "dirty Keto." I lost 60 pounds over a six-month period eating exactly like you said. Hot dogs, sausage, processed meats, chicken legs and thighs and a tone of eggs. There is no way I am paying those insane prices for grass fed or range free products.
Thanks
🥳💨🩷 only 7min12sec for the single BEST keto vid i've ever watched❣️ thank-u! 😘💨💋
Dr Barry aren't you the same guy who makes these videos on YouTube that says the plants fruits vegetables phytotoxins and now you're telling us while we should eat this kind of vegetable and that kind of fruit what's up why are you contradicting yourself??
If you have a Trader Joe’s, they have organic chicken drumsticks for $1.99/pound. Hard to beat where I live.
Cans or packets of Tuna are great. Can even bring them on the go.
Is there an alternative for avacados? I'm allergic to them.
Thank you for remembering all of us. Not everyone can afford the best, especially these days. Good Health does not require perfection.
You said avocados are cheaper now because “demand is so much higher”… But higher demand = higher prices.
I know this is 6 years old, but Dr. Berry, since March, I changed my eating to eggs, butter, bacon, butter, 2 x 8 oz 80/20 hamburger patties, and an occasional 0 sugar protein shake. I am down 40 pounds, and see this as not a "diet: but my future eating plan for as long as I can see. Your videos are really helping me understand that Keto/Carnivore is the best decision I have ever pursued.
You look like dr house if he chose to not do Vicodin
This man even cares to mention and list things for the people on "government assistance."
He's seems genuine and has got my attention, subscription and thanks!
No problem with hot dogs n mustard but what about the bun?
